  The Right to Buy Ballot
You may be reading this because you have received a ballot paper and wonder what it is all about.
The Golf club has been using the land for a number of years courtesy of the Ministry of Defence. They want to dispose of surplus land and we want to buy it.
We have over two years obtained the support of the Scottish Executive and they have had the land valued.
The value is £31,100.
In order to be allowed to carry on with the purchase we need the community support to be demonstrated by ballot and then if successful with over 50% of people in the Community we must complete the purchase by Xmas.
If we do not get the result in the ballot we may lose the golf course as it will be put on the open market.
We have formed the Community Interest Company so that the land will stay in Community Ownership even if the golf club fails and will be available as open space for generations to come.
We hope that once we own the land that we will be able to develop it and provide toilet facilities walking areas birdwatching and seating.
We are happy to accept donations to either Benbecula Golf Club or Benbecula Golf Course Community Inerest Company and are making applications for funding to local organisations and national charities to enable us to enhance the facilities available to all at the Golf Course.
In addition we are working with the Uist Community Riding School, Benbecula Football Club and various local community bodies to buy the other surplus land from the MOD around Balivanich to further enhance the sporting and leisure facilities available.
Please support us and yourselves and vote YES for the Right to Buy of the Golf Course.

I was one of the founder members who helped build and maintain the course. It's great to see the course/club thriving and I hope to visit again one day. I was also the 1st club champion.

Thanks for everything on Saturday 22nd July from all at Harris Golf Club. The hospitality was first class as usual and the meal at The Stepping Stones was excellent.
