The
course at Benbecula Golf Club is a great test for golfers of all levels,
making splendid use of Benbecula's undulating flat terrain. The water
hazards and bunkers on the course, combined with the undulating ground,
place a premium on accurate club selection.
The course, 4359 yards off the medal tees is, as the standard scratch
score rating of 62 indicates, never other than an excellent test of true
golf. Any change in the strength or direction of the wind, that usually
blows north-westerly towards the adjacent Atlantic Ocean, provides new
challenges that are compounded by the undulating terrain and finely contoured
greens cleverly located around the course.
With a good
supply of bunkers plus a few meandering water hazards, all combine to
present variety and challenge that requires a true test of club selection
with the chances very much in favour of even the best of players being
forced to use every club in the bag.

Hole
1
The
Fence is a short 134 yards, par 3.
It is a straight tee shot with a short iron to a lovely sloped green.
Although this hole is short, many a good golfer has come to grief
here.

Hole
2
Long
is an apropriate name for this 390 yards, par 4.
This hole is one of the most difficult on the course. It requires
a very accurate tee shot as there is a burn at a very reachable
distance from the tee on the left and the out of bounds boundary
to your right. After you've made your tee shot choice, it will be
a long iron to the green which is has an out of bounds boundary
positioned to the back and the right. It is a very difficult choice
of club selections at this hole.

Hole
3
Sunamul
is a medium 323 yards, par 4.
This is very demanding as there is a water hazard running all the
way up the left of the fairway and a road to the right which draws
the tee shot like a magnet. A very narrow entry into the flat green.

Hole
4
Tower
View is a short 162 yards, par 3.
One of the easiest holes on the course but with a water hazard and
a bunker at the front of this flat green it is important not to
drop the tee shot short here.

Hole
5
Air
Ais is a tough 180 yards, par 3.
Pity the golfer who doesn’t relish a par three where the tee
shot must be struck across a pond to a narrow fast green. There
may be many similarly styled holes in golf but few can have been
this difficult to stop the ball on the green. . The backdrop to
the green comprises a steep over grown bank, the out
of bounds to the left adds to the preasure of this tee shot.

Hole
6
Ransomes
Endeavour is a medium 295 yards, par 4 with a bunker at the front
right of the green. The tee shot provides a generous landing area
few should have trouble finding the fairway, but from the outset
the visitor to Benbecula is lulled into a false sense of security.
The difficulty comes wth the approach which must travel the perfect
distance to an attractively sited flat green, which like several
at Benbecula, is situated only yards from the course boundary.

Hole
7
Cnoc
Rolumr is a tricky 179 yards, par 3 with 2 bunkers at the slightly
sloped green. Hitting the green or fairway from the tee is a must
here as to the right is out of bounds and the left is very heavy
rough.

Hole
8
Curracag
is a long 312 yards, par 4.
This hole requires a positioned Tee shot as there are two strategically
placed bunkers on the fairway.
A short iron to the green depending on your tee shot to a sloped
green with a bunker right next to it.

Hole

An
Tom is a medium 214 yards, par 3 with two fairway bunkers and another
